Jeremy and Jodie’s
April 9th 2006 -
Spent the weekend at Jeremy and Jodies’s. Weather wasn’t the best but we got out to Newstead Abbey, which was the former home of Lord Byron, and also Matlock bath where we solved the mystery of the Heights of Abraham and Gulliver’s land. I’ve always wondered about these places when driving up the A1. We also partook in the best Italian food in Matlock Bath (although my Calzone hadn’t melted in the middle). J & J’s seafood pasta looked good though.
Strangely, I’d actually been to Matlock bath before. There’s a Stephenson (?) mill at one end of the valley which now has a shopping centre in it. During a conference in Derby in 2000 I went on a Beano there and we saw all the looms and stuff etc.
I think Jodie was keen on a few more animals (and trams) but given the weather I think we did pretty well and the children had the time of their lives with “Uncle Jodie and Auntie Jeremy”.
