The Doctor flies again
December 11th 2008 -
This blog has been badly named since my flying career took a “natural hiatus” due to children and lack of time. (Did manage to get my feet off the ground by hanging my harness up in the garage about a month ago only to find my vario had broken).
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I went with about a dozen friends to Airkix in Milton Keynes to spend the evening indoor skydiving. It’s quite expensive, in pounds per minutes terms, but it is the sort of thing where time dilates because there is so much to think about. It would be very easy to get addicted given unlimited money and I did get a flash of the grinning-all-the-time buzz that I used to get after a good day’s paragliding.
Anyway, here’s a video of my two one minute flights. Looks chaotic but in fact, I was one of the better fliers that evening (modestly) with five ticks on my training form.
